The New Blog

Blogging, Web 4 Comments

Well it is now official. I have moved my blog from Blogger to a hosted version of WordPress. And I’m pretty stoked. WordPress is a lot more powerful that Blogger is when installed on it’s own server.

For anyone with hard links to my site in blogrolls, etc, the new address of my blog is:

http://blog.cuemployee.com/

Most people have subscribed to my FeedBurner feed and it has already been redirected to my new blog so you shouldn’t have any issues. Anyone seeing this post on Blogger or who subscribed before I started using FeedBurner or hasn’t seen any updates on their feed for a while, double check the feed source. The feed source should be:

http://feeds.feedburner.com/cuemployee

If anyone has any issues let me know and I’m looking forward to constructive criticism on the new blog!

Great looking site. I look forward to your posts. And thank you for the link. I had done likewise.
Now the next topic for discussion…

    Nice looking site!
I recently started a blog for our cu and had looked into hosting it online with wordpress.com but ended up just getting it up and running quickly with blogger. The blogger site seemed to load much more quickly though I liked the wordpress features better. Eventually, if our blog grows some I would like to host it in-house with something like wordpress. I’m pretty techy, good with windows servers, and have setup a simple Fedora/Apache web server for another cu. How difficult was the setup for your hosted wordpress? What OS and webserver are you hosting it on?

    Dan–

I switched from Blogger to WordPress for the added flexibility and ability to manage the software and domain better. I’m decently technology minded, however I’m not in IT, so that you tell you my limits! Regardless, I opened an account with 1and1 and have been satisfied so far. Rammit has a few things to say about 1and1 over at his blog, I Will Teach You To Be Rich, that he posted right after I set everything up!

WordPress sets up pretty easy though. FTP it up, rename a file and change the values for db name, db user, db password, and db host name and I was up and running. And I’m very glad I switched. Now if I can just figure out this php stuff…

I totally forgot to update your feed in my feedreader and the blog! I was wondering why you weren’t posting anything new. I’m an idiot. :)
