Social Media and Political Campaigns (and why CU’s should pay attention)
Some of you have probably already read about the sudden usage of social media for the upcoming presidential campaign.
Look at Rudy Giuliani for example. The link in his name is to his Wikipedia entry. Rudy’s site has been developed to encourage people to embed “Rudy widgets” on their pages. Look at his Get Involved page and you’ll see you can add contribution widgets, feed-icon-looking things, and a live feed widget as well.
McCain, Obama, and Clinton are all running social media campaigns as well. It’ll be an interesting campaign.
Now, connecting the dots….
How do all of the refer-a-friend campaigns work for you? Do you give them a coffee card? $25 or $50 like Harborstone? I wonder how many members would put a widget/link/ad on their blog or website if they received some sort of compensation when the person joined? Kinda of like AdSense or the Amazon affiliate program… Hhhmmmm.
